SPEED LIMITS

Houghton County Road Commission
We have 20 sander/plow trucks used year around for hauling/plowing which cost approximately $467,000 each at today’s cost.

The purpose of a speed limit is to provide for the safety of all highway users. To meet this purpose a speed limit must be acceptable to the public and be enforceable by police.

By state law, speed limits on county roads are set by the Michigan State Police after a joint traffic study with the road commission.
